Hosting: This live site is hosted on HP Unix servers running HP-UX, HP's proprietary version of Unix. This is the production platform of choice at our hosts, Limitless, due to long familiarity with, and trust in, HP systems on the part of Julian Perry and Frank Wales, who specified and set up Limitless's hosting architecture.

However, we develop on a network of Linux-based PC servers. These don't need to be as robust or performant as the live servers, and this allows us to have better price-performance on our development systems. We also use Linux servers for our customer-only services, such as the project-specific wikis that we operate.
